One question we get constantly: what should I be reading when I’m not in the shop?
Belforti Instruments, run by Galloup graduate Marin Nourry-Belforti out of Paris, keeps a blog that’s worth your time. It’s split roughly in two. One half is practical bench material — truss rods and neck relief, pot values and tapers, pickup selection — written the way a working repair shop explains things, not the way a catalogue does.
The other half is a myth-testing series that goes after received wisdom in the trade using peer-reviewed acoustics research: what strings actually change and what they don’t, what role wood plays in an electric guitar, why the electric is still an acoustic instrument. He cites the studies, and when a study cuts against his own argument he says so.
Most of it is published in both English and French.
